With support from the Toronto Atmospheric Fund, Tower Labs evaluated the energy consumption of two side-by-side condominium towers: one LEED-Silver, the other built to code. Over two years of full occupancy, the LEED building spent on average $125,000 less on energy bills than its neighbor – enough to cover the $87,000 green incremental cost financing charges (for the first 7 years).
